Imagination Texas Special Weekend for Deaf and Hard of Hearing
The goal of every Special Weekend for the past 30 years has always been bringing together Deaf & Hard of Hearing students from all over the state of Texas.
Meeting that goal while confronted with the spread of COVID-19 threatening the safety of our students and community has been hard, but not impossible.
A little technological creativity saved our Special Weekend for the Deaf from cancellation, and the students interacted online instead!
Students from all around Texas have been logging in to celebrate deaf culture with online artistic performances and workshops, as well as DIY home creative activities. While it may be long-distance, it’s still a special place of fun and acceptance for the deaf and hard of hearing student community!
