Sid Richardson Museum: Exploring the West

Middle school students will receive a stunning view of a rapidly disappearing western frontier.

The current exhibit presents themes that occupied Russell, Remington and their contemporaries throughout their careers – interaction among diverse peoples, featuring images of cowboys, soldiers, explorers and Indigenous Americans. The experience includes a themed tour: Home on the Range. This tour explores the proud and diverse heritage of the American Cowboy: their clothing, work and leisure activities.

Students will create a metal tooling design in heavy aluminum.

78% of teachers surveyed said the IFW Sid Richardson program strengthened & enriched their classroom curriculum!
“This experience reinforced what is taught in my classroom. Students were able to look at and respond to works of art with a museum docent. They then were able to creae a piece of art.”
